Finished up creating the quilt top yesterday, adding borders 3, 4, and 5.
Border 3 (5 strips, 3″ x WOF) sewed into one continuous mitered strip
- Sides: 45.25″ each (33.25″ -( 2 X .25″)) + (2 x (6.5″ – .25″))
- Top & Bottom: 41.25″ each (36.25″ – (2 x .25″)) + (2 x (3 – .25″))
Border 4 (using 3 piece segments and 4 – 2.5″ x 2.5″ squares
- Sides: 50.25″ each ((45.25″ – (2 x .25″)) + ( 2 X (3 – .25))
- Used 8 segments (each segment is 6.5″) and a 2.5″ square
- Sewn length – (6.25″ + 2.25″ +(7 x 6″)) = 50.5″
- I eased this border adjusting to incorporate the extra .25″
- Top & Bottom: each 45.25″ (41.25″ – (2 x .25″)) + (2 x (2.5″ – .25″))
- Used 7 segments (each segment is 6.5″) and a 2.5″ square
- Sewn length (6.25″ + 2.25″ = (6 x 6″)) = 44.5″
- I eased this border adjusting for the .75″ difference
Border 5: (6 strips, 6″ x WOF) sewed in straight seam one continuous strip
- Sides: 54.25 ” each (50.25″ – (2 x .25″)) + (2 x ( 2.5″ – .25″))
- Top & Bottom: 56.25″ each (45.25″ – (2 x .25″)) + ( 2 x ( 6″ – .25″))
Finished quilt top is 56.25″ X 65.25″
